| June 3, 2007 - Today was a pretty full day, with visits to Pisac and other ruins. At Pisac, we did a small 1/2 hour prehike shakeout at the high altitude. For the rest of the day, we also visited a couple of local markets, had lunch in a touristy but nice buffet restaurant, visited the Pinchincoto salt mines (interesting to see how individuals or families could own a "pond" here and there), and attended a weaving demonstration from locals. AT the weaving demonstrations, we also - finally - had authentic roasted guinea pigs! It was quite a treat for all of us.... That night, Grace and I had pizza in a local restaurant by the town's main square. For some reason, I got a little sick that day and had diarrhea throughout the night. I'd have to take it easy the next day (Day 1 of our Inca hike) and all would otherwise be alright. |
