| June 1, 2007 - Our flight from LAX to Lima was a disaster. It was delayed some 10 hours! Four of us - Carin, Aimee, Grace, and I - were in the same boat, though it was probably toughest on Carin, who had to actually wait the 10 or so hours at the airport. After missing our transfer at Lima, Grace, Aimee and I would need to wait an additional 3 hours at the airport in Lima before flying to Cusco. (Carin was able to rush and catch the original flight to Cusco.) Not much was lost thought, as the day at Cusco represented the first day for us to get acclimated to the high altitude. Grace got to sleeping right away after we checked in at our five star hotel (Novatel) at around 3 p.m. I walked around the city a little - though not too much as I could feel the effects of high altitude almost right away (a little drowsy or dizzy, a little out of breadth, and in general a little unbalanced). At night, Grace and I ate dinner at the hotel. It was a wonderful Peruvian buffet dinner (not inexorbantly pricey, at US$28 total for the both of us) in the nice indoor courtyard at the hotel with live music in the background. |
